If you’ve read my division predictions you know why these teams made it. I don’t want to do a full on dive here, so I’ll keep it quick with some key points about this match up.

Seahawks vs. Chiefs

This is going to be a game of two completely different teams, in many different ways. Offensively, the Chiefs love to air it out in big chunks while the Seahawks like to keep it on the ground taking a big shot every once in a while. Defensively, the Seahawks are more sturdy and physical, but the Chiefs are capable of making a pivotal play anytime on defense.

The main discussion in this game will be the quarterback matchup between the cerebral Russell Wilson, and the new face of the NFL, Patrick Mahomes. A big key for the Chiefs defense is will they be able to stifle the run enough to keep Russell Wilson from making those big plays off play action. Can the Chiefs defense keep that offense honest? I have a hard time believing they will.

BUT… on the other side do the Seahawks have enough to keep Mahomes and the Chiefs offense from scoring at will? At will, yes, but the Chiefs won’t have trouble scoring much either. One big step for the Hawks to take against the Chiefs is to bend but not break. It’s okay for the Chiefs to get a big chunk play as long they are stopped and held to a field goal.

Both teams can score when they need to, especially the Chiefs, but who can get a stop when they really need it the most?
