I hope to do this every week before the weekend (or Thursday if I like any games then) because lets be honest, sports betting is now part of our lives. Welcome to the degenerate world, enjoy it and just remember it’s just money!
Here are my top 10 bets of the week from the college and NFL game. I promise to make you tons of money, because I always do!
NCAA-
Syracuse (+105) @ Maryland
I get it, it’s a away game and Syracuse is Syracuse football. But lets remember that Maryland is also Maryland, and that’t not much. As for Syracuse, head coach Dino Babers knows that this is a pivotal season for him and his team. This is not a game that a better Syracuse team wants to lose if they want to have any chance at big bowl game. I think Syracuse wins by a TD.
Nebraska (-4) at Colorado
The altitude does scare me, but I think Nebraska comes out firing after a disappointing first win against a lower opponent. I get a feeling that Scott Frost will have this team ready to go and quarterback Adrian Martinez will have a huge game. Also, Colorado isn’t terrible, but I think some growing pains are in store for this game. Cornhuskers by 10+.
Texas AM (+16.5) at Clemson
Another road team I like covering this weekend. Clemson is a top two team in the country, and might be the best. But, Jimbo Fisher loves these big games and he has a winning career record against ranked teams. Not saying that he’ll be able to lead the upset, but I like his veterans Aggies squad led by quarterback Kellen Mond to keep it within 10 points.
Cal at UW Over 43.5 (-110)
Both these defenses are some of the best in the country so this is me testing the waters early in the season, but I feel confident with the new UW quarterback Jacob Eason and his ability to stretch defenses with his arm. I also feel like Cal can’t be that bad on offense again, but lets be honest that probably won’t happen so lets say UW 28 Cal 17 with the ball moving pretty well in some warm weather on Montlake.
New Mexico State @ Alabama Under 65 (-110)
Maybe I should be taking New Mexico State -56 as Saban and Bama have never covered 50 points, but this under is too tempting. I think the Tides first, second, third and walk ons will be able to hold New Mexico State to under 10 points. Meanwhile the Tides first string offense might play a three series, and the offense should run the ball close to 90 percent the rest of the game. I’m thinking Alabama 56 NMST 7.

DOG BET ALERT!!!!!
LSU at Texas (+205)
Tom Herman has a crazy 13-2 record as an underdog as head coach. I honestly don’t think the Longhorns will win this game, but it might not hurt to sprinkle a bit of money on that big moneyline if you’re feeling frisky just based on Hermans record.
NFL
49ers (EV) @ Buccaneers
Vegas is fucking with us here, and I think I’ll just take the bait. Might end my weekend but it also might just prolong it even more. But either way I think many bettors are thinking too much about this. The 49ers are the better team overall. It will be close but this is a case of the 49ers coming out and just being the more talented team. 49ers 31 Buccaneers 24.
Chiefs (-3.5) @ Jaguars
Might be the easiest money of the week. Jags are going to be a train wreck this season, and the Chiefs are a top three team in the league. Chiefs 38 Jaguars 21.
Buffalo Bills at NY Jets Over 40.5
At this point in the NFL I will always take an over of 40 (screw it, give me the half point) because it’s the NFL and they don’t want some bum ass 10-3 game (thanks for wasting three hours of my life last night Bears and Packers). Both these offenses should be vastly improved too. Jets 27 Bills 21.
Indianapolis Colts (+6.5) at LA Chargers
The Colts offseason was rocked by the retirement of Andrew Luck, but don’t discount Jacoby Brissett and the will of that defense at a weak Chargers home field against an ailing defense. I’ll take the points and call it Chargers 26 Colts 21.
Broncos @ Raiders Over 43
He’s back, Antonio Brown is going to play on Monday night and that can only mean good things for the Raiders offense. I’m thinking eight catches for 133 yards and a touchdown. On the other side, I think Joe Flacco throws a couple of touchdowns, and the two headed monster at running back have a decent game too. I’m thinking Raiders 27 Broncos 23.

DOG BET ALERT!!!!!
Houston Texans (+245) @ Saints
I like this bet based on the large odds, and that I think the Texans are actually one of the better teams in the NFL. So I like the payout to talent ratio here. It’s going to be a tough game, but I like that defense and Deshaun Watson with a couple of new pieces to maybe pull out an upset.
